Writing Prompt #3 - Oldest Thing

In the world of writing prompts, here is number three:

What is the oldest piece of clothing in your closet that you still wear?

Escuze me while I go take a picture.  BRB.

Ok, so we moved to Florida in 1991.  I was 8, almost 9.  My family was in Michigan.  My friends were in Michigan.  My whole world was in Michigan.  It took a long time before Florida became my home.  I was attached to my roots.  Every summer we would go up there and I would jump in and be right at home.  I was way more involved in my church there than in the one I attended down here.  Even in my early teens, my youth group was at my Michigan church.  That was where I belonged.  That was where my heart was.

During the summer, I would go to camp with my Michigan Youth group.  People, seriously, I went to the bestest, awesomest church camp EVER.  Fa Ho Lo (stands for Faith Hope Love) rocked.  I believe the summer I got this shirt was the summer between 9th and 10th grade, but I wouldn't bet my life on it.  The theme for the year was Fa Ho Lo High.  I have no idea what they did with that theme.  There was always a theme.  One year we were all countries. My group's country was China and we made this crazy song  based on the "We are Siamese" tune from Lady and the Tramp, except it was "We are Chi-a-nese."  Once we were the Yaks and we made up a song based on the Anamaniacs cartoon theme.  Anyway, this particular summer we were Fa Ho Lo High.  I got this tee to remember my week.
I had everyone sign it.   The signatures have mostly faded over the years, but you can see little hints of them still.  Looks like this one says "Andrea." Very likely, this lovely lady. Must have been before she started going by "Andi." (Sorry, girl, but you are totally still Andrea to me...that or Homey;) )

I would say the shirt has been well loved.  I still sleep in it often.  It is full of holes and WAY too big for me, but it's comfy and perfectly worn in.  It should be after somewhere around 15 years!  :)
I think I'll get in it right now!

Writing Prompt #2 Food

For my second day of this writing prompt adventure, I am asked to answer the following question:

If you had to eat the same meal over and over again for the rest of your life, what would it be, and why?

Considering I practically lived this for many years of my life, I would really hate it if this ever were to happen to me.  After all, I've only just begun to actually look at a menu and want more than one thing on it! Please don't make me go back to chicken fingers! However, I'll do my best to answer the question.  Thankfully, the question says "meal" and not "food."  If I had to pick one food to eat for the rest of my life, I don't think I could do it.  Meal at least implies that there can be courses or at least sides and a dessert.

Here goes!

I think that my main dish will be a sandwich.  We'll start with a really good, whole grain bread that has been coated in some sort of delicious sweet and spicy spread.  Next, let's add some cheese (maybe Boar's Head Chipotle Gouda) and meat.  I think I'll choose Boar's Head Chipotle Chicken or Jerk Turkey.  Actually, since this is the only thing I'm ever going to be allowed to eat again, I think I'll just put on both! I like some fresh fruit on my sandwiches, so I'll add sliced pineapple and mango.  A good sandwich needs a little crunch, so I'll have to have some dark green lettuce.  While we are at it, maybe I'll throw on some alfalfa sprouts as well.  That is probably enough...I'll want to be able to fit it in my mouth!

For my first side dish, I think I'll have salad.  I need to stay healthy! My salad will be loaded with a good variety of fresh veggies and fruit with just a little sprinkle of red wine vinegar. I'll also have a small cup of plain yogurt with a little honey mixed in for sweetness (perhaps sometimes I'll pick some fruit out of my salad to mix in the yogurt as well.)  I'm going to drink water because, well, I always do anyway!

Now, the big question is, should I include a dessert? I'd hate to say that I'm never going to have cheesecake again, but I also wouldn't want to have it for every meal.  Maybe I'll have it on my plate at every meal, but sometimes I won't eat it.  Is that allowed?  Who makes the rules here?

Sigh....fish tacos, you will be missed.  Burgers and fries, farewell my dear friends.  Curry, it was really nice meeting you.  I'm sorry we can't stay friends. Breakfast foods, *sniffle* I'll never forget you.  Bacon...uh...hang on....actually...I can't do without you forever.   You are also going on my sandwich.  A nice, crispy piece of you...you go hop right in there between the turkey and lettuce, and make yourself at home!

Writng Prompt #1 Childhood Memory

Blah Blah, life moves on. Blah Blah, it's been forever.  Blah Blah, I have a new job working for my dad now.  On to other things.

I just came across (via pinterest naturally) a website featuring 25 writing prompts.  I frequently feel that I have nothing to say, so I'm going to try them out.  I'm not sure I'll do all 25, but maybe I'll try.

Prompt #1.
What is your earliest memory?

I have a lot of memories from early childhood, so pinning it down to the earliest would be impossible.  It isn't as though I have a timeline of events in my head and can pick the first date off of it. The following, however, has to be pretty early:

My sister is less than 14 months younger than me.  I can't remember life before she came around.  People used to mistake us for twins. I must have been pretty young when she was still sleeping in her crib.   I wasn't allowed to be in there anymore.  I was too big, and it was my sister's turn to be the baby.  I'm not sure if it was a desire to be with my baby sister or a desire to hang on to being the baby in the family, but I recall that I used to sneak into her crib to play with her. I know that I got caught at it, but my memory is that I did it several times.  I think we played with her toys in there.  I'm not really sure as I can only see snippets in my head.  When my sister outgrew the crib, we sold it in a garage sale at my Gramma's house.   I remember standing in her driveway with my mom, both of us crying as we said goodbye to the crib and babyhood.
